Martial Arts are sometime conceived to be 'violent' as they involve kicking and punching. However the reality of what Martial Arts offers to students is far greater. It aids growth to students both physically and mentally. On a physical platform it offers one of the greatest life skills you can have - Self Defence. There are many 'fun' activities people can get involved in - basketball, footy, netball etc. These are great 'fun' activities, but then there are MUST DO activities - Swimming and Martial Arts. These activities I consider MUST DO as they can both save your life. If you ever find yourself in trouble in the water you are going to wish you learnt to swim and if you haven't, it maybe too late at that stage. The same goes for Martial Arts. If you are ever in a physical conflict, you are going to wish you had learnt Self Defence and again, it maybe too late at that stage.
There are a staggering amount of physical attacks that can happen at any time in any place and being physically prepared for this can save your life. Understanding and training in these situations is an essential life skill that everyone should learn. Not only will the student be better prepared but they will have confidence to be able to deal with it; which brings me to my next point.
The mental achievements of Martial Arts - Building Confidence, Focus, Determination, Endurance - these are all essential life skills and all play a vital role in helping you set goals and achieve them. Martial Arts teaches you that everything is possible if you have the focus and drive to push forward and never give up. These are all so important to kids to understand and mental skills to learn to help them grow into successful adults.
So whether you are learning Taekwondo, Judo or Jiu Jitsu - get involved in Martial Arts as it will be one of the best life skills you you ever do.
